Purebred Producers
Harness the power of information in Canada’s beef value chain to:
  • Explore marketing opportunities
  • Enhance business decisions
  • Increase profitability
The CBBC-BIXS system enables you to share and access information about your purebred cattle as they move throughout the beef value chain to cow-calf producer, feedlot and packer.

CBBC-BIXS will capture and exchange diverse information including production, performance, health management, genetics and carcass data.
You’ll be able to track the progress and outcome of your cattle, identify niche markets, and, through enhanced information - influence your breeding, production, marketing and business decisions. The information flows into and out of the national database across the chain linked to the animal’s unique CCIA RFID tag number.

Information required to participate includes: your CCIA account number and your animal CCIA RFID tag numbers, birth dates and birth method . Other information is optional to include – and you decide which aspects of genetic/genomic data you are willing to share with other CBBC-BIXS participants.

Feedlots and packers will also register the specific CCIA RFID tag number and enter their own information on that specific animal within the BIXS database. Purebred producers will then be able to see information entered on their animals by those subsequent BIXS participants.

Your breed association may also have established a distinct CBBC-BIXS community to facilitate and access breed specific benchmarking and reporting –and to incorporate branded beef program data and facilitate marketing. Or, your breed association may be involved or collaborating in CBBC-BIXS in other ways. On the home page of this site you’ll find links to breed association information about their involvement and any value-added services.
